Disclaimer

No funds will be solicited for the house church or prayer group. Those are expected to remain small, about the size of a Bible study. Any financial needs for those groups will be supplied by group members themselves. Fundraising for Leeward Hope Foundation will be for the parts of the Foundation that serve persons with disabilities. These services will comprise the largest part of this ministry. Likewise, board members being recruited will be only for the parts of Leeward Hope Foundation that serve persons with disabilities. Church board members will be recruited from among the church members only. Donors do not have to agree to the standards previously listed for the church. It is understood that Leeward Hope Foundation will serve many persons who do not agree with those standards. Nevertheless, standards for the way we treat people will be quite high. Questions about this, or about any aspect of this ministry can be left in the comment sections of the blog or Emailed to leewardhope@yahoo.com.

5/27/11 Ministry is focused more on refugee ministry and online ministry now, though a house church is still in view. Some of the philosophy of fundraising has also changed.

More Research

After more research, I have decided to modify the house church's stand on the rapture. We will not hold officially to any view of the rapture. Our main concern here is that we will be a church that expects to be persecuted. Persecution and tribulation are not the same thing. Persecution is Satan's wrath against believers. The tribulation is God's wrath against unbelievers.

New Aspect of Dream

Another idea hit me this morning. I have a friend with a dream to start a high school for kids with autism. (She has a teenaged daughter with autism). That would fit right in with what Leeward is all about. She liked the idea of joining in with me. But we didn't have time to talk, so I didn't get a definite answer. I was hoping to be able to ask her to be on my board.

5/27/11 This dream didn't materialize.

Prayer Requests

In light of neighborly harassment this weekend, I have come to believe that this is spiritual warfare and satanically inspired. The main player in this is a church-going person, a member of an evangelical denomination. This person sacrificed her very regular church attendance in order to harass me all night Saturday night. Please pray for her (and for me). Also, I need prayer for a hip problem. Today I have begun to send out a mailing to recruit prayer group members, church members, and prayer partners. Please pray for a positive response from the people whom the Lord has called to this ministry. Praise: yesterday, a friend called me and asked me if I would like to be a night-time companion for her mom (sleepover with pay). This is an answer to prayer, in light of nighttime neighbor harassment. And I need the money. But the hip problem might hinder this, depending on what the specialist feels he needs to do. Thank you for your prayers.

See update on 6/28/05 post.

One Other Thread

One thing I didn't mention before is that I was a music major in undergraduate school. Since the Lord has included everything else in this new ministry, I guess I should expect that He will do something with my music background, too.

5/27/11. One thing the Lord did do with that is set me to writing hymns, and publishing some of them.

Further Developments

The Lord has been surprising me so much lately that I sense He may want to do something different in regard to the church than I originally envisioned. I do want it to be solidly Biblical, non-denominational, non-charismatic (but not anti-charismatic), non-sacramentarian (but we will practice sacraments), supportive of Bible-only counseling, not "purpose-driven," having a high view of Scripture (didactic teaching, rather than discussion - God doesn't care anything about anyone's opinion), using NASV, KJV, NKJV, and (for study only) the Jewish Bible (no paraphrases of any kind), practising hospitality and evangelism, not seeker-sensitive, not pre-trib, expecting persecution, practicing loving discipline, holding to all the basic fundmentals of the faith (the deity of Jesus, virgin birth, salvation by grace through faith, etc. - a full statement of faith will have to wait until another time). I am hoping to have traditional music as well.
Check out John 9:4 & 12:24ff, II Timothy 3:12, Acts 17:11, Revelation 12:11. Also check out worldmag.org, nanc.org, and hispeace.org in addition to the other links. I want this entire ministry to be slow-paced and low-tech (in contrast to what you see in so many employment ads). One of my first vounteers needs to be an administrative person. One of my next steps in this ministry needs to secure a board and a home for myself and the ministry. Your prayers are much appreciated.
